Who is it for

Foreigners married to an Indonesian spouse, foreigners having an Indonesian family member (parents or children), or family members of foreigners holding KITAS/KITAP, can be eligible for a Family Reunification Visa (Family KITAS or Dependent KITAS).

Specifically for foreigners married to Indonesian, the application is usually called Spouse KITAS or Marriage KITAS.

Foreigners married to an Indonesian spouse, foreigners having an Indonesian family member (parents or children), or family members of foreigners holding KITAS/KITAP, can be eligible for a Family Reunification Visa (Family KITAS or Dependent KITAS).

  • Spouse of Indonesian citizen (E31A)
  • Spouse of foreigners holding KITAS/KITAP (E31B)
  • Child of Indonesian citizen (E31C)
  • Stepchild of Indonesian citizen (E31D)
  • Child under 18 years old of foreigners holding KITAS/KITAP (E31E)
  • Lawfully adopted child of Indonesian citizen (E31F)
  • Parents of Indonesian citizen (E31G)
  • ⁠Parents of foreigners holding KITAS/KITAP (E31H)

Please note that holding this type of visa restricts you from doing formal work or earning income. If you want to be able to do so, you must apply for a Work Permit separately

Entry to Indonesia

When your e-Visa issued, you may travel to Indonesia directly without having to visit Indonesian Representative abroad in your country. Print out the visa to be shown to our immigration officer at the arrival checkpoint.

Family KITAS Application

If you meet the conditions, you will obtain the electronic Limited Stay Permit (e-ITAS) and the Multiple Exit Reentry Permit (MERP) facility upon your arrival at the immigration checkpoint. You do not need to visit the local immigration office to obtain ITAS and MERP.

Residential Report

Emicon will obtain the supporting document such as residential report from the local civil office based on your domicile area.

Foreigners married to an Indonesian spouse (Spouse KITAS)

  • Marriage certificate from the government office
  • Marriage report letter from the Indonesian Embassy or Consulate in their country and also from the civil registration office in Indonesia for spouses married abroad.
  • Foreigner’s passport with a minimum validity of 18 months.
  • Indonesian spouse’ ID card (KTP) and Family Card (KK) – both must be in Married status
  • Indonesian spouse’ Birth Certificate (Akta Lahir).

Foreign-national children who intend to join with their Indonesian parents

  • Foreigner’s passport with a minimum validity of 18 months.
  • Foreigner’s birth certificate.
  • Indonesian parents’ marriage certificate from the government office.
  • Indonesian parents’ ID card.

A spouse of a foreigner who holds a KITAS

their Dependent KITAS validity will be following to the main KITAS validity

  • Foreigner’s passport with a minimum validity of 18 months.
  • Marriage certificate from their government office (has to be in English translation)
  • Spouse’ valid KITAS.

Children under 18 years old & unmarried, whose father and/or mother are KITAS holders

  • Passport with a minimum validity of 18 months.
  • Birth certificate.
  • Parents’ marriage certificate.
  • Parent’s passport.
  • Parent’s valid KITAS.

Children of foreigners who are married to an Indonesian spouse

  • Birth certificate.
  • Parents’ marriage certificate from the government office.
  • Indonesian parent’s ID card.
  • Indonesian parent’s family card.

Children born in Indonesia whose father and/or mother are KITAS holders

  • Copy of the child’s birth certificate.
  • Copy of the parents’ marriage certificate from the government office.
  • Copy of the parents' passports
  • Copy of the parents' current KITAS.

Payment can be made via bank transfer or in cash at your convenience.

Please note that fees are to be paid in full in advance. The visa application process will begin once both the invoice is settled and all required documents are completed

Family Union KITAS is applicable for a foreigner

Married to an Indonesian spouse (commonly called Spouse KITAS or Marriage KITAS).

Having an Indonesian family member (parents or children).

Family KITAS is valid for one year and extendable.

If you have obtained this KITAS type 2 times for 2 years in a row, you can be eligible to get a Family KITAP which validity is five years.

Family KITAS in non-working visa

If you wish to do formal work / holding formal position in one job / getting income, you can be required to obtain a Work Permit separately.

Referring to Presidential Regulation Number 31 of 2021, concerning the Implementation of the Immigration Law, KITAS can be canceled, one of which is in the event of a marital breakup due to divorce and/or a court decision for the foreigners who obtain the KITAS from a legal marriage with Indonesian citizens.

Yes. The granting of a Spouse KITAP is given through Switching Status from KITAS to KITAP. The process will start from the immigration office of the area where you live. Note that one of the qualifications is that your marriage has to run for at least two years.

No, as long you do not register it to the government, it is determined as pseudo marriage. KITAS is a legal product issued by a state institution. Therefore, you must provide the documents legally and acknowledge all the provisions contained therein.

Unfortunately, it is not sufficient enough. The immigration will require a Marriage Report Letter from the civil registration in Indonesia for marriages held abroad.
