Understanding the Indonesian Calling Visa

A calling visa is a specialized visa service designed for citizens hailing from countries deemed to be in a state of heightened vulnerability based on various factors. These considerations encompass ideological, political, economic, social, cultural, defense, and national security aspects, as well as immigration conditions.

Currently, seven countries are classified under this category, necessitating their citizens to apply for a calling visa to enter Indonesia. These countries include Afghanistan, Guinea, Israel, North Korea, Liberia, Nigeria, and Somalia.

Procedure for Applying for a Calling Visa

The application process for a calling visa follows a standard procedure, with the key distinction lying in the assessment conducted by a specialized team.

Comprising various relevant agencies

this special team includes the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration, the Indonesian National Police, the Attorney General's Office, the State Intelligence Agency, the Indonesian National Army Strategic Intelligence Agency, and the National Narcotics Agency.

The team convenes in a coordination meeting to thoroughly evaluate whether an individual qualifies for the visa. Once granted, the applicant gains entry into Indonesia without the necessity of visiting the Indonesian Representative abroad.

Visa validity

For the single-entry visitor visa type, applicants are given a 60-days stay permit in Indonesia starting from the date of arrival and the visa is extendable a maximum of two times, each for 60 days.

The extensions should be made within 2 weeks before the 60 days are due.

Scanned copy of the passport (valid of at least 12 months with four blank pages)

Digital passport-size photo with a white background

National ID card from the country of origin

Proof of ticket booking

Confirmation of hotel booking

Bank statement covering the latest three months with a minimum balance of US$2,000
